Just our luck! The class-action lawsuit against JVC for their crappy camcorders and rip-off repair policies was held in Passaic County, which I just found out has been the target of a corruption probe by the FBI.

Not to imply that the Passaic County Courts are corrupt, but given that the corruption tainted no less than 11 public officials in Passaic and other NJ counties, and included 2 mayors, 2 state legislators, the current councilman and a former councilman, among others, it makes you wonder.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN PASSAIC COUNTY, NEW JERSEY!

Since the lawyers that were supposed to represent us consumers of JVC camcorders in a class-action lawsuit instead took the money and ran (see post below) I have been trying to find out how things ended up this way, with the legal process leaving everyone in the class as screwed as we were before contacting the lawyers.

It feels like when some scam artists (JVC) rip you off, then someone else offers to help you (the lawyers) and they rip you off as well. Adding insult to injury. You get the picture.

This is what I have so far:

The original complaint against JVC was filed in Camden County, Superior Court of New Jersey, on October 21, 2004. It was assigned docket number L 6972 04. This document is available as a PDF file here.

On January 7, 2005, the case was moved to Possaic County's Superior Court. This county has not heard of the Internet, so there is nothing online about this case, which by the way, was assigned docket number L 224 05. Someone needs to go to the courthouse and physically copy whatever documents are relevant! Apparently there are some 6 inches of documents, which would cost hundreds of dollars to copy, so the main thing we all want is to see the FINAL SETTLEMENT, which should disclose just how our own class-action lawyers screwed us. I can throw in a few bucks towards copies of the relevant documents, and anyone who wants to help out can email me. My intention is to post the documents on the Internet as soon as I get my hands on them.

And anyone else I can think of.

LAWYERS TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN!

(Everything here is my own personal opinion, hopefully protected under free speech.)

For over a month I have tried getting the details of the settlement between JVC and the class of JVC camcorder owners that the lawyers were supposed to represent in court. There are no mentions of the settlement on the websites of the lawyers involved. Nor on any sites dedicated to class-action lawsuits. Nothing on Google. The lawyers do not return phonecalls or emails so I can only conclude that they have taken the money and run.

That might seem harsh, but it seems at some point the lawyers stopped representing the class and instead made a deal with JVC in some back room, or under a table somewhere. I do not know if cigars and topless women were involved.

The secrecy of the settlement shows how the lawyers agreed to keep silent about the settlement to protect JVC's reputation and keep their settlement costs to a minimum. The thousands of people that sent me their contact information and complaints about their JVC camcorders were never notified of the settlement. I myself received no notice, and I started this whole effort over two years ago!

It has been my experience with other class-action lawsuits that people that fall in the class are given the option of being represented by the lawsuit or opting out, to reserve their right to individually sue at a later time if they choose to do so. To my knowledge nobody in the class received such notice.

What is odd is that Steven Berk, the lawyer that paid me to collect the contact information of one thousand people who were publicly complaining on the Internet about JVC, repeatedly refused my offers to send him the list of people. After several attempts to give him the list I figured he did not need it yet. The only thing Mr. Berk did with the information the thousands of you sent me was to use a few sample complaints to convince the judge that a large number of consumers were affected, and therefore a class action lawsuit was a reasonable thing for the courts to hear. After that point, everything he did became secret and I got cut out of the loop, as was everyone else.

What little I know is that JVC was supposed to put information on their website telling people how to get their cameras fixed or exchanged for free (or whatever the secret settlement mandated.) Apparently, as part of the settlement, JVC only needed to post the information for a limited amount of time on their website. Of course, if nobody was told this information was there, nobody could read it in time and now the information has been taken down. So everyone who has been involved in this lawsuit is back to square one: Pay JVC for "repairs."

I should have known something was wrong earlier on. I noticed anytime Mr. Berk opened his mouth, lies would come out, but I thought the lawyers were still supposed to represent everyone in the class even if their personality left a lot to be desired. Wrong! You can be a liar and a thief and legally get away with it!

I finally got around to doing your invoice. Let me tell you what I did, and if you do not think it is to your liking, I can redo it.

Basically, instead of keeping track of every minute I sit down to answer or write an email related to JVC, I will charge you a flat rate per email. I am not charging your for all emails I write related to JVC, only those things that you would be interested in paying for. For example, I wrote 187 messages saying "Thanks" to people who sent me information, joined the lawsuit, agreed to send their camera, discussed repairs, etc. Pretty much I answer with thanks to anyone who writes. I am not charging you for those emails.

There are also emails that bounced, people asking to be removed from the list, 500 emails with my "monthly update" to everyone in the database, to keep people interested, check that emails are still valid, and build a sense of community, and things like that which I am not charging you for.

Finally, there are some 74 emails (last itemized line) from my yahoo account which are not easy to categorize, so I did charge you for all of those. I would have to read them all to determine what category they belong to, and it would take me as long to do that as it took to write the 74 emails in the first place! But that won't happen again as I am updating the type of email service I get from yahoo, so I can easily download all messages to my computer and then can categorize them quickly.

So there it is. Let me know what you think. As I said, I want to continue to do this type of work with you, so I want to make sure you are happy and satisfied with my services.

Good news!

According to one of the lawyers involved in the class action lawsuit, JVC has settled the case. He mentioned that JVC would be doing some refunds and repairs to those who bought camcorders of the type, and during the time period, covered in the lawsuit. The exact details are still unknown to me. He said JVC would be announcing in their website more about how to file for remuneration, but so far I have not seen anything at the website (jvc.com)

Keep visiting this website every few weeks. As soon as I find out the exact details of the settlement I will post them here.

Visit the website for more information. As for those of you who sent me (Juan Carrera) your information, I am in the process of trying to transfer my database of names to them so you do not have to register twice.

The availability of the lawyers' website now makes this website obsolete. It served its purpose, which was to serve as a lightningrod for all the JVC complaints floating around in the net. Thanks to everyone who sent in their information and allowed the lawyers to argue in court that a class action was a legitimate use of the courts because a big group of consumers felt ripped off.

A quick update on the JVC lawsuit:

The lawsuit is alive and well. The lawyers are reviewing JVC's internal records and documentation, a process made difficult by JVC's slow reluctance to make them available. So all I can tell you at this point is to continue to be patient.

Some of you have noticed that the quotes of unhappy JVC customers that show up in this website are fairly old. The effort to collect these quotes was to help determine if a class-action lawsuit was warranted. After more than 1000 complaints were collected, and the lawsuit was taken to court, the need to collect more complaints became obsolete.

Thanks to everyone who helped; I hope sometime soon we can all celebrate after the court listens to our collective complaint and sides with us.

My advice for anyone buying electronics of any type--avoid JVC. A few years back I purchased a new JVC DVD player (BK-501) for $400. A little over a year later I was having trouble running certain movies. Anything from Disney would not run. I notified JVC and they told me that they were aware of the problem and the players hardware had to be upgraded. Since the machine was out of warranty I was told the cost to me would be about $150. I said since others are having this problem and that they were aware of it, it should be a recall problem since substandard parts were used. I also said the machine wasnt dropped or misused--just has problems with some makers dvd's. They didnt want to hear it. I also said that I had friends that had dvd players that cost half as much as mine that didnt have these problems. I had owned other electronics from JVC before this but this was my last. They dont care about there customers, and need to learn how to deal with problems due to their own manufacturing faults. Anytime Im in an electronics store I tell people to stay away from JVC and my advice and story has kept people from buying there products and going with other brands. "

I had the E04 problem and it seems to be my tape that caused it. When I tried to eject it - it wouldn\'t come out. I pryed the door a little and it finally released and the tape was tangled inside the unit.
Once I removed the tape it worked (I also 'banged' the side of the unit for a while before taking out the tape with no effect).

Boy I thought I was the only one having this problem. I tried taping at the dragstrip and EO4 'eject and reinsert the tape' pops up. I\'ll try some of the things given on this webpage....but if doesn\'t work I\'ll never buy JVC again and almost everything I have is JVC except for my car stereo which is a Sony and love it better than the JVC one offered at the same price.

I have the sme problem though my cam is dvl108. I took the cam to service couple of times and it worked there always??? One quick fix I have found is that if you tap the cassette door gently the error is suddenly gone. Any help on this one is appreciated.

I have this Error E04, Safeguard mode, reattach battery thing which i got no idea to fix. Can somebody e-mail me on how to best fix this irritating problem. Please out? I bought this in Australia but i am now in the outback in Afica -Botswana. I tried taking the camera around for service but still they could help. Get back to me with a good answer. I thought it could be because of dust in here but i had it cleaned and still the same problem. Again it would work for some seconds sometimes and return to the error message. Its hurting to lose capturing this once in lifetime adventure am currenting involved in. Please help!! PATRICK

I have the JVC GR-DVM75 and have had this darn Safe Mode message forever. I just have to take the tape out and remove the battery. Sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes it takes days before it works again. Terrible!!!! I have yet to see a solution on the web.

I have had this same problem since my warranty ran out on my JVC DV camcorder. When I turn it on to record or play, a code appears on the display screen i remove and reattach battery unit in safegaurd mode.

It really works!! The 'beat the hell out of your camera' method. Fortunately, I didn't spend $$ on pro repairs. When I started getting the old 'safeguard mode' and 'clean your head' messages I searched the net and found this dicussion group. After reading everyones' messages I beat the crap out my camera as described by Ryan with one small modification - I removed the tape and left the door open, opened the view screen, removed the battery, and then I proceded to whack the camera with the battery right on the side over the speaker with 3 or 4 solid whacks. Presto it is working again without any error messages - I'll have to see how long it lasts.

JVC RECORDING PROBLEM!

About 3 years ago I purchased a JVC GR-DVM75. I never used it very much until just recently when I took it with me on a skiing vacation to get some shots of me snowboarding. All of a sudden, one day my camera started having a really weird problem, the capturing image was all green and it was capturing very little light. I have tried everything from changing all the settings to restarting the camera to using a head cleaning cassete but nothing has worked. Now I am asking you generous people out there to help me find a solution to my toubling issue.

My JVC camcorder has developed some dead pixels on the LCD display, it shows as a black line about 3 mm long when the back ground is light.

So it is back to JVC again, the last time was the DVI output failed which was fixed under guarantee and was with JVC for three weeks.

Well it is now over four weeks since I took my JVC camcorder in for repair so I progressed the repair with the dealer only to be told that it is *still* not back from JVC

JVC repair service it very poor.

JVC DVM-90 error message

"I have the dreaded 'CONDENSATION ERROR' every single time I use it. I was only able to video about 6 tapes before this started. Now I'm also getting the 'VIDEO HEADS NEED CLEANING' error... This problem with JVC will never end! LOL I have the JVC DVM-90.

Every time, we cannot get any kind of support from JVC, either on the web, or by phone. They don't stand behind their products at all (I see why now).

We will definitely not buy any other JVC products in the future. Too bad, because the layout of the camcorder is a really great idea. You can put it in your pocket and take it anywhere. Maybe someone else will take the design and add some quality and customer service.

If you guys have any tips for us, we're all ears.

wow...it really helped to read these emails...I reset the battery in manual mode and taped a few times on inside with viewer open. It started working again. Isn't this an expensive camera to have this problem sooo fast...mine is only 2 months old :(

Have JVC GR-AX35E camcorder with recurrent problem of vertical black lines appearing on the finished film.
These also appear in the view finder.

A sharp slap on the side of the camera will often clear the lines for a short period but they will always return. This is an intermittent problem, factors such as heat/cold, dark/light
or battery condition make no difference.

Trips to the local camera shops proved fruitless, bringing the usual- Dunowatsrongweit-cunfixitfur175pahnds-wanasellit? response.

Someone else must have experienced this problem at some time and knows the reason for the lines. Would welcome any input.

A week ago, i sent an email regarding my JVC Video Camcorder Model GR-SXM330U (Ser. No. 076J0923). I was thinking i sent it to a different JVC department & i got a response from Mr. John Rasa. I'm also an electronic tech and the problem with my Unit is a dead LCD. The reason for this is because of a broken Flex cable. The Flex cable is totally cut off due to normal wear & tear (when you open and close the LCD display). I looked into you parts list and i found a part # for this unit's model. The part # is QLD0176-001 (LCD Module). I need to know if this Part # includes the Flex cable on the LCD assembly. I need to make sure of this before i put-in my order. i have a JVC GR-DVP3U .
all of a sudden, 2 things are occurring.
1 - the auto focus is not functioning properly. It will go in and out of focus for no apparent reason. the lens is clean and the battery is fully charged.
2 - the viewfinder is black. always. dead. this is the lcd viewfinder. camera is still functional thru the eyepiece.
any comments?

I have the exact same problem with my GR-DVM75. It was working fine and then it won't respond to any power. Won't turn on. The power supply is producing power and the battery has juice. I've also tried two batteries that worked before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have a model JVC GR-D70 movie camera which will not turn on. When the AC is plugged into the wall, no charge light. Won't power up. Battery appears to be good. What else could it be? Been used very little, and last time used it a while back, it worked, and now it is dead. Please advise.

I purchased this model in the June of 2003 and by May 2004 it is in Safeguard mode. I was extremely careful with it and used it a moderate amount. After researching in google a bit, I found hundreds of others complaining about the same problem not only for this camera but for other JVC models - some people are even organizing a class action lawsuit. The camera - without this problem, was decent, but I recommend getting a removable mic because all of my footage has recorded the camera whir - a problem you'll have with about any built in mic. I highly recommend staying away from JVC!

I have a jvc model no. gr-sxm515u that I bought new. It worked relly well until the door to the cassette holder stopped opening allowing the cassette from being ejected. The battery is fully charged so I know it is not due to low power. Would you be able to assist me with this issue or do you know what my repair cost will be.

I have a GR-AXM300 compact VHS camcorder. It has worked great for years, but now it shuts off when I put a tape in to record. It comes on and immediately shuts off, with battery or electric supply. I am based at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. I am using JVC Camcoder GR-DVL 45A, Serial no: 11540098. It is being used since 1999 but sparingly. Since a year it has developed a problem of intermittently showing E04 on the LCD and does not work further. By luck it works, some times, by switching off/remove and replace the cassette. I do not want to give for reapir as my experience with other products indicate, my luck of repair. After going through some web sites, I am going to try to use a new JVC cassette and utilise a head cleaning cassette. However I am not getting them in India. Could you please let me know the reason and remedy for the failure and the places in India where we get JVC parts/cassettes.

JVC DVM-90 error message

I have had this piece of junk for 3 years. Hardly use it. This error message has been coming since the day I purchased. The head cleaning message always appreas. IT is irritating. Has any one filed a class action law suit. I suggest writing to better business bureau the web sit is http://www.trenton.bbb.org/nis/newsearch1.asp. IT is JVC of America. If a lot of us write to better business bureau, we have a chance of having the manufacturer recall this product. Having paid a lot of money on this product, we need to be compensated.

I have JVC Digicam Model GR-D70 (Australia) that is just out of warranty and suddenly started showing E06 error code an going into safe mode, this seems to be a common fault on JVC digicams (either E04 or E06 errors). JVC's distributor in Australia has the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with, the rep I spoke to virtually called me an idiot and refused to disclose what the error codes are, they told me to take it to a service centre ..... great ..... $100.00 'Quote Fee' before it's even looked at, what a joke.
I since found out on the net that E06 is tape motor not turning or stalled which would be correct as it seems to move around 1' of tape then jam up, any ideas to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

I have just recently run into an issue with my GR-DVL210U. I was about to play back a home video only to get the E03 error. I unhooked the battery pack and waited about 15 min before putting back on. After doing so I ejected the tape and verified all was okay. The tape had been partially pulled from the case but I wound it back in. (This tape was the first real time that my 5+ month old had really laughed.) I put the tape back in and hit play only to see the same error again.
Again I disconnected the battery. Changed the tape and still had issues only this time I hit play and it apparently plays but all my video is non-existant. The strange thing is that all my videos have been recorded in LP on Maxell tapes. I have had the unit for approx 8 months and this is the first time this issue has arisen.
Ihave one other time had an issue with one of your products and my wife and I were extremely upset. It was a SVHS vcr that I had chosen based on the technology only to have it eat a tape for a set of three that ran $80. My wife and I are just about ready to give up on any and all JVC video equipment. I do have a 5.1 receiver and love it but it too has some issues ie overheating.
Back to the issue at hand I am currnetly unable to view any of my home videos and the closest repair center is 3+ hours away. I have two family events in the near future. One is this weekend and the second is just over a month away. I hope to have some kind of resolution before then.

I bought a GR-DVX9 in July 2001 for �750.00 in London - this was a bargain price then, although a lot of money! I took it on holiday and it started going 'speckled' and eventually stopped and displayed 'head cleaning required'. At this time the camera had been used for about 4 hours. On return to London I took it back and after much argument the store gave me a replacement. It worked for a while until summer 2002 when it started showing 'error E04' intermittently. Ther seemed to be no reason why it worked or showed the error message. Last year (2003), holiday again, it developed a 'margin' where part of some previous footage remained as a still down one side and the ongoing footage was partly displayed on the other side. I also found the slim batteries supplied were by now completely dead and I had to buy a large replacement (still the unit had only been used about 20 hours in total). I haven't used the unit much since then but being about to go on holday again I tried to turn it on and the 'safeguard mode/error E04' reappeared every time. Every time I try to perform any operations with the camera it just powers down, whether in camera or playback mode.
I have now spent �800 and consider this very poor value for money. I am quite cynical about JVC's approach as I have seen other websites both American and English where class actions have been mentioned because the problem is so widespread. I have tried different tapes and different batteries, nothing works. I do not want to spend money on either a replacement or repair as I think the GRDVX range, which has incidentally been discontinued, has an inherent fault.
Can you help?

I have a JVC mini DV camera, model GR-DVR805U, and I have a problem.
When I power on my camera, everything apears fine for 4-5 seconds, until the camera flips itself into 'safeguard mode' where it tells me to remove and reattach battery, and when I do so, the problem persists.
Then if I let it sit for a week or so and turn it on again, the safeguard mode message no longer pops up. Then after using the unit for anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours, the unit randomly goes into safeguard mode, and I can no longer use it for another week when I will only be able to use it for an unknown amount of time then.
Sometimes when the unit IS working it will say headcleaning required before flipping into safeguard mode, and I run my head clenaing tape and as soon as I do it goes into safeguard mode.
Also anytime it goes into safeguard mode it doens't recognize the time code on the tape, but it will still work in DSC mode to take pictures.
I'm wondering what I need to do, if there is anything I can do, because the unit as a whole aside from that seems to be in working order. The viewfinder and LCD both show the images the camera is picking up when turned into recording mode, but all with the blue box that tells me it's in safeguard mode and I can't do anything.
Lastly, on occasion, I will power the cameraon when I haven't touched it for days and it will tell me there's condensation in it, when it's been in a cool non-humid environment the entire time.
So I don't know if I can somehow turn off this safeguard mode completely or what, but any help or reccommendations would be appreciated.

I have a JVC GR-DVL805. I first got the E04 remove and re.. sign after going on vacation to Cancun. Did anyone put their camera through the x-ray at the airport? I did and then saw the sign 'do not put cameras through x-ray. I thought that that could have been the problem...or maybe sand from the beach. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'm going to try tapping on it. I had so many problems with finding the correct firewire and programs for this camera!

I bought this camera 2/03. Used it about 20 minutes the first six months I owned it. Took it on vacation and the 2nd day (taped maybe 8 minutes the first day) I got the 'E04' couldn't use it at all after that. Took it to Best Buy and they sent it to JVC. It cost me about $100 to fix. Now I get 'condensation, operation paused' all the time. It works for a while and then I get that stupid error. I work for a public affairs/media relations office and part of my job is documenting things my organization does. We purchased 5 of these cameras and every one of them now has the damn E04 message. I've read this forum front to back and was able to fix one of them. I opened the cassette compartment, left it empty, took off the battery, opened the view screen, beat the holy hell out of the camera, re-inserted the battery and by some miracle of God himself the thing works. I'm going to try it with the others now. I'll let you know what happens. I refuse to believe that beating the thing is the techical solutions, but hey, if it works it works. My hats off to the disgruntled consumer who figured this one out."

JVC DVM-90 error message

"I still have not been able to get my tape out. In cantacting Stacy at JVC I got an even higher quote to 'look' at the camcorder. She even suggested I buy and analog camcorder to replace the JVC model. Did not get a lot of help here. Though I did go purchase a Sony handycam yesterday. I give up on the JVC model. So the answer for me was to scrap the defective unit and purchase another brand. My model was not the DVM-90, but it probably has a similar tape mechanism.
They like for us to purchase the extended warranties. If we have pre- paid to get the defective units fixed, then we are not squawking about them here.
I do have a suggestion for those with this problem. JVC won't fix the issue until the cost of 'not' fixing it exceeds the 'cost' of us grumbling to each other about it.
I have started going on to sites selling my camcorder that have customer reviews (such as Amazon). I review the camcorder explaining the problems I had with my unit. Even if we can't get JVC to step up to fix/replace the deffective units out there already, we can at least warn others who are in the market for a camcorder. My review on Amazon has already had 4-5 clicks that someone found the review useful. You don't have to purchase the item through them to provide a review. I am currently looking for other sites with customer review capabilities.

JVC camcorder problem

I have had a problem with the tape mechanism on my JVC gr-d30. I am not able to get the tape out. In reading through some of these forums, I am extremely concerned about the number of problems people are having realated to the tape mechanisms. My camcorder was 3-1/2 months old and not even hardly used when this came up. Of course the labor part of the warrenty was up. Estimate just to look at the camera was $75.00 plus shipping both directions.

JVC camcorder problem

I notice on this forum that many people talk about the E04 errors and battery in safeguard mode problems. I too had these on a GR- DV9XE, but solved mine with a little investigation. They key to this problem is with the battery and it's connector. If all pins do not connect FULLY you will get this error. Especially on the smaller camcoders, the connectors are prone to dissapearing within the housing and/or twisting, resulting in a pin not connecting. This can be resolved by tapping on the side beside the connector or in more difficult situations by using a hook ended needle or a set of fine nose pliers to twist the connectors back to normal. Please be carefull though, as they are very easily broken. Also on some of the newer camcorders, a seal is sometimes left on the connectors and needs removed.

JVC camcorder problem

Well, the JVC DVL820U camcorder that I bought to replace the previous JVC DVF-21U that broke down last year failed too! I should have swiched then to a better brand! Too bad I found this board after the purchase!
Anyhow, the machine does not latch when I try to push the tape in, but still try to close the tape loading mechanism with the cover up and gets jammed! Error 01 shows on the screen! A common problem judging from the number of jammed JVC camcorders offered for sale at a cheap price on ebay! Notice that no other brand of digital camcorder is offered for sale in a non-functional condition!!
This trick costed me the possibility of documenting al the new and interesting cars at the NYC show last month! And another argument with my wife!
I called the JVC service center in Wayne NJ where they hypothesized that the machine mechanism could have gotten out of phase and they suggested me to bring it in for service. Nice of them! But when my wife went there, again they quoted something like $ 260 (20$ more than last year, I guess they haven't headr the current inflation rate...) to fix it! Well, I am not paying that much, especially considering that differen brands, much more reliable machines can be purchased as new for little more! I also am very dissatisfied with the quality of the video of this machine, very grainy and unsharp, worse than the DVF-21U I had before! So another paperweight in my collection, which happens to consist of 2 JVC DV camcorders!
I will make sure to advise as many people I have against buying anything from JVC and I hope that the class action lawsuit that is being started succeeds so that it will serve as an example for this and any other company against ripping off good faith customers with shoddy, faulty and unreliable merchandise!

RECURRENT HEAD CLEANING REQUIRED - DIGITAL NOISE PROBLEMS

After less than 20 total hours of use, my JVC GR-DVL920U MiniDV Digital Cybercam does not function correctly, nor do I have any confidence that it can be repaired to do so.
I purchased the camera as a gift for my husband in July of 2002. As new parents, we expected that we would want a camcorder to record important moments in our children�s infancy and toddlerhood. We have not been able to do so, as the camera has been out of commission or in the repair shop for most of the past year and one-half.
In September of 2003, after approximately 15 total hours of normal use, significant digital noise and a 'head cleaning required' message began to appear. We followed the prescribed procedure and cleaned the video heads with a MiniDV cleaning tape. The problem was not corrected, so we sought repair of the camcorder. A rebuild of the drum assembly, supply and takeup reels was performed by JVC- authorized repair center 'VCR Service, Inc.' in Elmhurst, IL.
Since then, we have recorded less than two hours of tape, and the digital noise problem has again reappeared.
I have never been so dissatisfied with such a major purchase. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? At this point, the camera is all but unusable, as the recordings it takes are so scrambled.

JVC camcorder problem

Hola a todos. (Hi every one). I don't speak English as well as I wish. I fixed my camcorder RCA with the same problem (show an EO4 error + a message about removing and replacing the battery) All I did was to open the door, with my finger (the longer one) pull the heads cylinder (wich was interlocked) and released it. JVC camcorder problem
JVC Camcorder. I borrowed the camera from my friend Amy only to have the tape jam up on me while I tried to tape something. The POS is exactly that a POS!!! Amy, your my best friend and I'm sorry I jammed up your recorder. Looks like I'm out a few bucks and probably won't be able to borrow a shovel from Amy again never mind her JVC camcorder. I ended up tapping the side of the tape holder rather sharply and the tape finally came out. I put her camera back in the bag and I promise you I will certainly not buy a JVC POS camcorder that's for sure. Just call me Lucky....

RCA camcorder error message help!

Hi all, just encountered this old post of mine and I wanted to update you...
When I had this problem I tried alot of voodoo (change battary,play with tape,etc.). But nothing really helped. The only solution to this problem was to go fix the camera engine (The E04 is a problem of the engine moving too slow) for 250$ !!!!.... Now my camera works fine, but as a personal lesson I decided I will not buy any more JVC digital stuff.
